EMS-Tech is a privately owned company that has been operating since 1988. We engineer, design, and deliver systems for loading, unloading, conveying, storing, stacking, and reclaiming dry bulk materials. With approximately 100 employees worldwide and offices located in North America, Europe, China, and Australia, EMS-Tech is well-positioned to address the needs of our clients around the world.

Hundreds of EMS-Tech material handling systems are successfully operating at ports, terminals, mines, quarries, power plants, and onboard self-unloading barges, bulk carriers, and floating transhipment platforms worldwide. All EMS-Tech solutions are designed to ensure environment-friendly, efficient, and profitable operations, capable of handling a wide variety of dry bulk materials at highly efficient loading/unloading rates.

    Lassing Dibben Consulting Engineers Ltd. Merges with EMS-Tech.

  • 2023
    Self-unloading system delivered to McKeil Marine in 2023.

    EMS-Tech delivers self-loading and self-unloading system to McKeil Marine.  This landmark conversion project marks the first self-unloading system in the McKeil fleet.

    IJB Award 2022

    EMS-Tech is awarded the Best Shiploading / Unloading System by International Bulk Journal (IBJ) for the delivery of the self-loading and self-unloading systems for a 26,000dwt self-unloading bulk carrier.

    Ship Vietnam TSV Oldendorff

    EMS-Tech delivers two unique transhipment systems for a new Power Plant in Vietnam.

    Stacker-Reclaimer-(1)

    EMS-Tech delivers a first-of-its-kind grain transhipment system to South Australia and a fully assembled stacker-reclaimer to North Vancouver, British Columbia.

    EMS-Tech-Inc.-30th-Anniversary

    EMS-Tech Inc. celebrated 30 years in business and was featured in the International Bulk Journal (IBJ) editorial panel.

    Ship Loader

    EMS-Tech Inc. delivered a grain shiploader to a major client in Vancouver, British Columbia.

  • 2012
    Transshipment System

    EMS-Tech enters the Australian market with the delivery of an iron ore transhipment vessel, while delivering a stacker and reclaimer to a client in Indonesia and two stacker-reclaimers to clients in Canada.

    Self-Unloading-System-(2)

    EMS-Tech secures and delivers 5 Laker classed self-unloaders and 4 Panamax self-unloaders, validating EMS-Tech’s position as the world leader in self-unloading technology.

    Peter Sorensen 2009

    President and Co-founder, Peter Sorensen, is awarded the Professional Engineers of Ontario Entrepreneur of Year award.

    China Office

    With shipbuilding on the rise in China, EMS-Tech opens branch office in Shanghai.

    Conveyor belt

    EMS-Tech delivers their patented CIRC-A-BIN© storage facility to Wilmington Bulk Terminal.

  • 2001
    Stacker Reclaimer

    EMS-Tech delivers a stacker-reclaimer, a shiploader, three stackers, and over 8000ft of conveyors to Martin Marietta in the Bahamas.

    Shiploader

    First patent was awarded for a loading spout hoist mechanism.

  • 1997
    EMS-Office-699-Dundas-St

    EMS-Tech Inc. moved its head office to the current location at 699 Dundas Street West, Belleville, Ontario.

  • 1995
    John-Elder-_-Peter-Sorensen---unloading-coal

    Marine Division is formed with the addition of John Elder, and company growth continues.

  • 1994
    Stacker

    EMS-Tech continues its early success with the addition of high-profile contracts to engineer and design a traversing bridge reclaimer in Cardon, Venezuela, and a traversing shiploader with luffing, and shuttling capabilities in San Diego, California.

  • 1990
    Westshore-Terminals

    EMS-Tech Inc. was incorporated on October 9th, 1990, and secures its first major projects for stacker-reclaimer upgrades for Westshore Terminals, Dominion Terminals, and Ridley Terminals.

    Peter Sorensen and Brian Stafford start EMS Associates.
